Felix Schauwecker

Felix Schauwecker (*1998, Cologne, Germany) explores form, space, and perception in his work. His three-dimensional works are made from polystyrene foam — an industrial material from which he constructs and shapes organically appearing structures. The sculptures evoke processes found in nature: growth, movement, and transformation.

Natural principles operate within the works both as inspiration and as structural foundation. The synthetic material creates a deliberate contrast to the organic forms it takes, while its inherent fragility simultaneously draws a connection to the delicate and transient structures of the natural world.

The sculptures emerge from an interplay of structure and chance. Through compression, layering, and the transformation of the material, forms develop that encounter growing and overlapping structures. Form appears not as a fixed outcome, but as an open and fluid state.

The works follow their own logic of order and deviation. The often high-contrast use of colour arises intuitively, serving as an open impulse for the viewer's perception and interpretation.

The sculptures engage with the viewer's perception and resist a singular, definitive reading. Object and space enter into an open dialogue — and depending on angle and scale, their effect shifts: volumes and forms appear in constant flux. Spatial moments arise between stability and change.
